Junior Training and Fixtures

Our junior training runs on Tuesday evening 6pm to 7.30pm and Saturday mornings at 9am to 10.30am. Both are held at Moulton Sports Complex (MSC). We also now offer a Sunday morning session at Caroline Chisholm from 10.30am to 12pm. There are charges to join training but we don't charge for the first training session so you can come along and get to know us.

We welcome all ages and abilities from the age of 3 to 16 (we have a Saturday group of ten 3 to 4 year olds on a busy day!), and from age 6 on Tuesdays. Parents are required to stay for the duration of the session until the age of 8.

MSC is a fully equipped leisure centre with a bar serving hot and cold drinks and "Sky Sports" so you watch your children train and play with a hot cup of coffee whilst chatting to coaches and parents alike!

From September 2010 we will have a brand new coaching programme based on the Long Term Athlete Development Plan which has been adopted by many Sporting National Governing bodies. Its aim is to provide children with appropriate physical training to develop their athletic ability at the right pace through structured  and progressive training sessions. It stresses that specialisation in one sport at an early stage is detrimental to a childs athletic progress. Our programme which has been developed by National physical education consultants www.valsabinpublications.com aims  to develop, speed, agility, movement, balance, coordination and of course, hockey skills. But don't be suprised to see your children running around at our sessions without a hockey stick all the time! If you have any queries about the content of our junior training sessions please speak to a senior coach or our Chairman or President whose contact details are on the Committee Page. They will be only too happy to discuss it futher.

Junior Fixtures

We will enter U11s & U13s Sunday mini league (as Nton Junior Hockey Lions) and all eligible players will be welcome to play from Tuesday or Saturday training. We hope to field 2 teams in all age groups, which may focus on those used to playing together at practice

•          Continue the Sunday mini-tournaments adding a more concrete schedule for under 9’s and Vixen’s.

•          On first Saturday of each month, arrange some additional home games (alternating between U9/11/13 ages) so as those who can’t play on a Sunday are able to participate in a few matches each season

•          On 1st Saturday of each month ½ training pitch will be given over to games.  These will alternate between U9, U11 and U13, to give match practice for those who cannot attend Sunday league

•          We will support Badgers League and look to develop additional fixtures for Vixens
