Up until 1998, Saints Mixed teams were part of a small independent
mixed club that has been going for some twenty years, called Kings Mixed Hockey Club. The
two clubs have finally integrated into the Saints club this year and adopted the name of
Saints Mixed. They have migrated from the traditional light blue to the new club shirts.
The mixed sides were set up as a community club in and around
Kingsthorpe, and was driven for a few years by Dave Maw, an ex Saints Mens player who was
the Headmaster of Kingsthorpe Upper School. It was Dave who had the foresight to get the
first school astro turf built at KUS, several years before grass hockey was finally on the
way out.
