Changes to coaching stucture

In order for us to strengthen as a club we have identified 4 areas of development:
- Player development
- Coach development
- Umpire development
- Volunteer development
Over the next season we will be developing plans to ensure these are put into place and all members are given the opportunity to benefit.
As well as improving our development we are looking at ways to engage and recruit hockey players of the future, working with local schools and businesses.
For us to achieve this we have decided to implement a new coaching structure:
- Christian “Paddy” Howard has been appointed into a new role as Director of Hockey taking responsibly for all senior section coaches & develop links with the Junior section of the club. Paddy is a full time sports coach and brings his experiences from various clubs & schools including Warwick School & JRPC
- Lucy-Ann “LA” Chacksfield will continue to coach our Ladies’ 1st team as they embark on next season in the Investec Conference East, LA will be supported by an assistant coach so that she can also play.
- Steve Roffe will continue to coach the Ladies club section & a Ladies’ 2nd team coach will be appointed shortly
- Due to the changes in Paddy’s role he will now coach the Men’s 1st & 2nd team and hand over the club coaching role to a new coach, who will be appointed shortly.
Unfortunately this season we say goodbye to 2 of our senior section coaches; Tom Hewitt & Steve Finch. We wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to both for all of their hard work and dedication over the past few seasons in their various roles. Steve is certainly looking forward to spending more time on the pitch!
Paddy will develop the coach development programme, details of which will be published closer to the start of the season, but will include the following:
- Coach education system lead by Jumpstart Sports & Future Sports, our coaching company partners. Including Junior leader/coach workshops to develop the next generation of coaches
- Develop new links with University of Northampton coach education programme
- Push club coaches employment in schools, colleges, universities, clubs & England Hockey single system
