Summer Hockey Tours
Once the winter season is out the way people are just itching for more hockey! So what better way to play hockey than to go on tour and get a whole weekend of hockey, hockey and more hockey (and possibly a few drinks as well!)
Northampton Hockey Club has a long history of touring.
Over the last 3 years the tour team has gone under the name of 'Pimp My Side', ably led by Fran Warburton. Since then a second tour team of 'Thundercats' has joined the Pimps.
We've ventured as far as Milton Keynes and Loughborough! Apparently the thought of driving home hungover is enough to put us off going further afield!!
The tour schedule for both is very similar: It's mixed 7-a-side for all abilities!
You arrive on the Fri night to pitch up your tents, maybe partake in a few drinks at camp or in the bar. Then wake up nice and refreshed (or hungover) Saturday morning to play hockey throughout the day.
Saturday night normally consists of a fancy dress theme in the bar, with all teams joining in (48 teams at MK last year!). And again some teams may choose to have a few glasses of ale.....or lots of Snaky B!
Sunday morning and there's some very rough looking faces walking around ready for another day's worth of hockey. By the end of the day everyone packs up, goes home and catches up on some much needed sleep!
