Northampton Saints HC 1989-98, Northampton Lions 2007-2009, Northampton HC 2009 - Yes... I really am THAT old! Currently enjoying second spell with the club after 10 year parenting sabbatical. Previously played for the Saints at every level - generally as a goal- hanging attacker. Got back into hockey when my son Sean (currently 3rd XI) started playing for the Lions Juniors.
PROUDEST HOCKEY MOMENT: Leading the 5th team to the league title last season.
HOCKEY CLAIM TO FAME: Played at school with David Faulkner (Olympic gold medal winner and current England Hockey Performance Director) -our hockey careers took widely different routes after that!

I joined Northampton Saints Hockey Club in 1983 at the age of 12 and have been with the club ever since…

I wanted to be forward but gradually got pushed further and further back and spent near enough the majority of my playing career in the back line as a sweeper / centre back or right back.

I have played for all the sides in the men’s section and spent from 1992 through to 2008 in the first team with a couple of spells as captain.

I am now a L2 Hockey Coach and spend my time coaching our Juniors, Mens & Ladies teams with games thrown in for whichever team needs a wily old defender….

Sad as it is but when there is no hockey it is just not fun…

Last year he Captained the World Famous Fighting Sixes to Promotion and is an all round good guy (i mean Round) also looks after U16/18 teams at club. just in my 3rd season of hockey and i am addicted.

Del Bowie

Del has been involved with the club for a number of years and has now taken over the running of our 2 badgers teams each week. Quite how we manages to get over 22 youngsters out to play hockey is a mystery to us, but keep up the good work!
