April Fool Everyone – Face masks

As far as we know there are no plans afoot:

“Sally Munday, Chief Executive of the EHB announced on Friday, 30 March that as from September 2012 all outfield players are to wear protective masks that prevent eye and mouth injuries.

In 2011, 115 facial injuries resulted from hockey and it is in the best interest of the game that all players are protected. After a succesful trial of protection for defenders during penalty corners, it has been decided to roll this out to all other facets of the game.

Northampton Hockey Club will work with Sports equipment suppliers to ensure that all players will have protection for the start of the season.”

We always have safety in mind and if England Hockey change their position you will be the first to know. Apparently no-one was hurt in the making of this joke…
