Olympic Blast – Day 1

Published by on

Last week saw the opening ceremony of the Olympic Blast event that the junior section is running start at Moulton Sports Complex.

The Panthers (2-6 yr) hockey players made Olympic torches which they then used in a torch relay around the Sports Complex and up at the Astroturf. This took place whilst the Badgers were playing a pay and play game. The event then amassed down in the club house to consume the doughnuts and cakes that Olympic athletes need to build world class bodies.

The Badgers then took to the sports hall and after some brief instructions played some competitive volleyball. A game that all the players enjoyed and went off feeling quite tired and happy.

Hockey Skills

The Blast builds up now to a hockey skills day that takes place this Saturday (30 June) at Moulton Sports Complex. The day starts with the usual training 9.00 till 10.30, and then moves into a hockey skills challenge: target practice, stick-and-ball bouncing, aerial distance, obstacle course time challenges, beat the keeper – obviously for different age groups and genders.

In addition we will be running a few scratch matches (7-a-side) for the 7-13 age group on one half of the pitch and 13+ on the other side. We will be selling bacon butties and will have food available  for lunch.   Like all events, these Blasts are Bring-a-friend events and we welcome all who attend. The cost of the event is £5 (games and bacon butty) and£4 (games only). There is obviously no charge for training. See you all there!
