Joe’s challenge for Kate supported by Coops
One of the players, Joe Skinner, from Wellingborough, a neighbouring hockey club, has been on a fundraising mission for a brilliant cause, a challenge of 6 half marathons in 6 months to raise money for Target Ovarian (www.targetovariancancer.org.uk). Running the Northampton half marathon this weekend with Joe is our own Ian Cooper. Below is a little more about Joe’s challenge in memory of Kate Denbigh who also played for Wellingborough Hockey club. Also below is the link for Joe’s just giving page…. Please give generously…..

“On the 18th February 2013 we lost a perfect person in Kate Denbigh to Ovarian Cancer, in her memory we are all doing things to show just how amazing she was.
Members of Wellingborough hockey club ran one of the half marathons at Stanwick Lakes on Sunday 16th June 2013, all 18 members completed our various distances and nobody took longer than 2hour 30mins a truly brilliant achievement to prove that anything you do in this special persons memory will only further prove how much she means to us all.
Other social events will be organised by her friends and family to which I hope we all can make, i will post the details on here so please keep looking at the site.
When Kate became ill she showed even more how thoughtful of others she was, she also showed her incredible strength, determination and bravery to face this horrible task. Just a few of the many great attributes she possessed.
With all of this in mind, I feel I want to complete a challenge in her honour, it will never be close to what she was going through but it is a mere token of what she means to me and always will.
My challenge has already started and will continue for the next months in which I will complete 6 half marathons a total of 77miles. The final one will be on 26th October 2013 the day of our anniversary, this half marathon will also be in Snowdonia, the hardest marathon in the UK. My love for her should fuel me to the finish line!”
