Match Previews for Saturday 22nd February
10.30am: The Ladies 2s travel to top of the table Boots. A recent run of form has seen Saints shoot up the table, and victory tomorrow would go a long way to helping them secure their position in the Midlands East Feeder League for another season. All eyes will be on goal machines Sally Cory and Emily Wilkins to keep their fine goal-scoring run going.
12pm: The Men’s 1s host Edgbaston at Moulton College. A fine run of form since Christmas was brought to an abrupt holt last week away at Nottingham University, as their opponents came out 5-4 victors. Saints are boosted by the return of defenders Sam Browne (from injury) and Ashley Smith.
At the same time, Ian Street’s Men’s 6s will be pushing back in Nottingham, against West Bridgford 7s.
12.30pm: Ladies 1s look to continue their promotion push a home (Moulton Sports Complex) to Leamington. The ladies currently sit in second position, with the top two winning promotion at the end of the season. So if they can maintain their recent run of form (including a 3-0 victory last week), then they’ll be looking well set for the final few weeks of the season.
12.30pm: Men’s 5s v Leek at Caroline Chisholm School. After last week’s disappointing defeat at home to Loughborough, the 5s will need to bounce back with victory tomorrow.
1pm: The Men’s 3s travel to Warwick University. Last week’s stunning 7-0 victory brought them back on track for promotion to the 3rd XI Midlands Premier Division next season. With regular skipper Ian McIllwaine on holiday, James Miller takes up the reigns, hoping to inspire his side to 3 more points.
1pm: Our Mixed 1st XI take on Long Bucky away at Daventry. With a few of their students missing due to half-term, the Mixed team will be hoping to still come away and secure 3 points.
At the same time as the Mixed team, our Men’s 7s travel to Burton in what should be a very even affair.
1.30pm: the Men’s 2s travel to West Bridgford in the knowledge that 3 more points will secure their position in the Midlands Premier Division after promotion last season. It’s a tough ask against a side that are extremely strong at home, and currently sit 15 points above Saints in the league.
2pm sees the Men’s 4s host West Bridgford 4th XI. As with the Ladies 2s, their league is extremely close with any 4 of 8 teams still at risk of relegation! So home form will count for a lot tomorrow as the season reaches its climax. Could it be time for another 5 yard, Simon Chapman hat-trick?
