Beer n Grass Tournament Success 2015

You can’t get more old school Britain than the Northampton Hockey Club Beer N Grass festival; grass hockey, home-made goals, BBQ, summer rain, the Macarena and a bunch of the best people ever running about in home-made t-shirts, tutu’s and nuns outfits. Hockey players really are the best! Rain? What rain? As expected the weather didn’t put off these seasoned ‘pro’s’ who all embraced the day in true hockey fashion.

The 2015 Beer N Grass title (and mouth-watering jugs of beer) was won by the 2014 winners Not Haye on Wye. These guys really are the ones to beat! Congratulations on your 2nd win. New comers Rave Armada and Nuns on the Run get top marks for costumes (although unfortunately no amount of praying before the game helped the Nun’s secure enough wins to get the much needed points.)

Our Back to Hockey team, Back to Basics finished joint 4th after winning the last game of the festival in an exciting match against Pimp My Side. Such a great result for these guys (who celebrated their win better than any other team!) who have recently come back to hockey.

This year’s Beer N Grass Festival saw our club president Andy Dale (and member of the winning team) score the goal of his life and the announcement of our good friends James Miller (club treasurer) and Sally Adlen’s engagement. Beers all round! And to top it all off we raised nearly £600 for our club so thank YOU very much.

Thank you to Becky Mellor for organising the event and making sure everything went to plan during the day. And to Robyn Wright for keeping us all fuelled up with awesome burgers!
