Northampton Hockey Club announces new partnership with Birchfield Road
Northampton Hockey Club today announces a formal agreement with Northampton Saints Sports Club, Birchfield Road, to use its facilities for post-match entertainment.
The new relationship means all players at Northampton Hockey Club will be invited to go to the Birchfield Road clubhouse after each home match for teas and drinks for the entirety of the 2017/18 season.
Club culture
Hockey club president Andy Dale explains “this is an important step forward in the development of the club as we look to provide an inclusive platform to create a binding culture amongst the ladies, men’s, mixed and junior teams.” Dale goes onto point out “many club members will be familiar with the set up at Birchfiled Road from years past, but our club has moved on significantly and this renewed relationship will be a welcomed asset for even more players, coaches, parents and spectators.”
Facilities at the clubhouse are perfectly suited to Northampton Hockey Club. The distance from the Moulton pitches is approximately an 8-10 minute drive with the space in the clubhouse offering room for at least four teams at one time. Added to that, there is a fully licenced bar, pool table, Sky Sports and BT Sport to keep guests entertained.
Ideal catering
Dale is keen to emphasise the catering by saying “the food is just great because there is a rotated offering of curry, chilli or vegetarian options, so basically something for everyone after a match.”
Better scheduling
The hockey club has also changed the scheduling of games by arranging for start / end times to be the same on the water and sand base pitches. Dale expresses “this is deliberate to encourage players and spectators to build team spirit by joining each other after games, share stories and generally build a stronger sense of togetherness.”
Social enjoyment
Birchfield Road also offers the hockey club the chance to hold social activities away from the pitch. Players and families should keep a look out throughout the season for various opportunities to get involved.
The arrangement between the sports club and hockey club is operating with immediate effect and any players, coaches, parents or spectators should contact their team captain for further details of post-match arrangements.
