Our Men’s Masters cup preparation

Men’s Masters 6-4 Old Sils

Goals: Mark Hawkins (2), Ian McIllwaine, Simon Stringer, Pete Ellis, David Rose. 

Saints Masters (sponsored by TGI hockey) got a morale boosting victory over Old Sils ahead of the forthcoming national cup game this Sunday away at Harborne.

In an entertaining game played and umpired in the right spirit; Saints took control in the first half with goals from Mark Hawkins (2), Macca rolling back the years and Simon “contentious” Stringer. It was no more than was deserved as The Saints played some impressive attacking / controlled hockey. A late first half goal for Od Sils took a little gloss of a dominant first half, but at 4-1 up Saints were in control.

Old Sils came out positively in the second half and with no shortage of talent managed to draw level with 5 minutes remaining. Up stepped young Pete Ellis with a fearsome shot to put Saints back into the lead and with seconds on the clock David Rose made it 6-4.
