RIP Bob Langley
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of life-time club member Bob Langley who sadly passed away after a long battle with illness.
His association with the club spans decades, having first got into the sport after his son and daughter started playing. Many of our current and previous members will have had the pleasure of Bob umpiring many a game they played in.
Bob will be mainly remembered as a fantastic, dedicated club umpire, but on top of this you would often see him cheering our club sides on from the side-lines, and sharing a joke or story or 2 with those stood with him!
He will be sorely missed by everyone at the club.
Club Umpire Secretary Matt Gausden-Walker added:
“The word ‘legend’ is thrown around too frequently these days, but it’s fair to say Bob truly was and always will be a club legend at Saints. He was a superb umpire that commanded the respect of players and officials alike from around the County.
He was always there to help the club whenever he could and was always happy to umpire as many games as we needed him for on a Saturday!
But more importantly than that, he was a genuinely lovely guy that you could have a great conversation and laugh with, and it’s fair to say that is what we will all miss the most”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lesley, Rachel, Dave and family on their great loss.
Details of his funeral are as follows:
- Wednesday 31st July, 2pm at Milton Maslor Crematorium (Towcester Road, Milton Malsor, Northampton, NN4 9RN).
- Any club members wishing to attend the funeral are welcome, please dress in bright colours (Bob was very well known for his brightly coloured ties!).
