1/2’s Team Manager Position
Hi all,
After many discussions I can confirm that we have created a role of 1’s and 2’s ’s team Manager and have appointed Nigel Down into that role.
The role is
• Work with men’s and women’s squads (players, captains, coaches) to identify shared best practice, new ideas for both genders and present to Exec committee so the higher squads have a voice at Exec
• Liaise with 1/2’s captains and coaches to assist in the smooth-running and administration of the squads.
• To work with individuals and club captains to ensure there is an ambition and a willingness to play for the highest team, promote and support talented young players from lower teams to ensure that they progress according to their individual needs.
• To work with 1/2s captains and coaches to support a team culture based on high performance that is at the same time welcoming to aspiring players and uniform across squads.
The role has been created because the Exec understands that most of its activities tend to be administrative, financial, developmental, and could be described as “bottom up” – this role will give extra focus and support in a “top down” manner..
Whilst discussing the role with Nigel we consulted with most of the coaches and captains in the 1s and 2s on their thoughts about the role and everyone has had the opportunity to feed into the Job Description.
The JD is subject to review and December seems a good date to do so, needless to say the role will probably evolve before that based on circumstances and this is fine, any organic changes will be ratified formally at the review.

The EC hopes that this role will empower the club to advance the 1/2’s in both genders to higher levels as we now have a more united approach to focus more on their needs.
