At 9.00 on 1st June 2021, Former Club Member Chris Reid will begin running and walking for 24 hours in aid of UNICEF UK. During that time he will be aiming to complete between 100 km (62 miles) and 100 miles. He will try to keep going constantly if he can in order that he can reach the target.

On this challenge he set himself, Chris said:

The school at which I work has been very supportive and they have allowed me to use their mile run cross country course for this event. Throughout the event I will be helped by my fiancée, who will be trying to stay awake whilst I am running, which in itself will be a huge effort.

This campaign is extremely personal due to family links with both South Africa and Rwanda. Action is required to make sure that countries around the World are not left to suffer with Covid for another 2-3 years. Whilst the UK has vaccinated over 52% of its population and aims to vaccinate all adults by the end July 2021, South Africa as only vaccinated 0.6% and Rwanda hopes to reach 60% of its population by the end of 2022. So far the COVAX scheme has dispatched 49 million vaccine doses worldwide, whilst Britain has administered over 50 million doses. Help is required in order to provide 2 billion vaccine doses by the end of this year for low and middle income countries around the World by the end of this year.
