Clubhouse and Post Match News

Club House News

The Executive Committee has been doing some work on trying to resolve some of the issues on our outstanding clubhouse offer.

We have two elements that we have been working on namely: –

1.    Resolving the annual availability problems at Saints Cricket Club during the month of September and October

2.    A long-term solution at Moulton College (a further email will come out next week asking for volunteers to get involved with this project)

Historically the Saints clubhouse has not been able to incorporate all 6 home fixtures or sometimes no teams whilst cricket is still being played and because of regular staff holidays. We have looked at a list of criteria and have applied these to several venues to resolve this issue.

•    Food somewhere- league requirement

•     Alcohol plus drinks for those who want non-alcohol offers

•     Somewhere for social events

•     Somewhere to park and leave cars for away games

•     Being at the same place as a whole club

•     Somewhere the social fabric of the club comes together

•     Location not further than Birchfield Road

We have looked at four venues and shared this list with them, The Telegraph and Artichoke pubs in Moulton, Saints Cricket and Brixworth Cricket

The Telegraph have said they are not interested, The Artichoke are but can only manage a few teams on a Saturday but are keen to work with us. The Saints will now accept all 6 home fixtures but only from 23rd October. Brixworth can accommodate all teams now.

So we have decided to use Brixworth until 23rd October and will survey club members for a choice between continuing with Brixworth and returning to the Saints at that point. Post-match teas will be served 45 minutes after each game – Andy Ward will be providing them again.

It will be great to have two offers for the club membership to select from.

The address is Brixworth Cricket Club, Northampton Road NN6 9DQ. It is 3 miles away from the College and only takes 8 minutes to get there through Pitsford Village this is marginally closer than Saints clubhouse.

They will be open and staffed from 12.30 when our first game ends and teas will be available from 45 minutes after the end of each fixture. They will stay open until 7.30pm. NHC members and families are welcome to stay as long as they want, in addition to the normal products from the bar free Tea and Coffee will be available.  Please enjoy the facilities and we hope to see you there. Returning teams from away games are welcome too.
