All votes have now been counted and we can confirm that Brixworth Cricket Club is our new post-match venue!
Following a nail-biting count of all 94 votes, Brixworth emerged as the winner by a narrow margin of just 4. We now have an idyllic new venue, able to fulfil the 7 important criteria set by the Exec Committee;
- Food somewhere- league requirement
- Alcohol plus drinks for those who want non-alcohol offers
- Somewhere for social events
- Somewhere to park and leave cars for away games
- Being at the same place as a whole club
- Somewhere the social fabric of the club comes together
- Location not further than Birchfield Road
Speaking to The Saint after the vote Andy Dale was keen to point out the benefits of our new venue.
“Brixworth Cricket Club are delighted to have us and we look forward to working with them to make this a success. The venue is well-located for both home and travelling hockey players and we hope that future social events will be held there. We plan to survey club members to understand what they would like the clubhouse experience to be as settle in”.
It is understood that while our tenure at Birchfield Road was becoming difficult to manage due to capacity issues, some members will be unsure about the move to a new venue after our long association with Saints Cricket Club, but as Ian McIlwaine said, “That’s democracy!”
Moving forward, it is hoped that members will continue to meet together in one place after The Game, and we would encourage everyone involved in the club to make full use of this new facility as we move forward into an exciting new era.

Brixworth Cricket and Tennis Club contacted us last night with the following message.
“Brixworth Cricket and Tennis club are delighted to hear of the outcome of the Hockey club vote and have enjoyed this October’s Saturday afternoons when we have hosted the teams.
We look forward to developing the relationship between the clubs and hope to be able to work on some ideas on multi sport membership, social events and a shared home.
To this effect, we have made the decision to invest £5k in some new heating for the winter season to ensure that hockey members feel comfortable over the winter months which should be installed over the next few weeks”.
England v Tonga rugby autumn International will be shown at Brixworth on Saturday (6th November), 3.15 kick off.
