Sunday Morning Hockey

Ladies 1s had no game yesterday, so it was up to the 2s to take up the mantle of Northampton’s premier ladies hockey team and they did so in style with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Daventry with some excellent high line transfer play.

Ladies 4s also smashed it, as they beat Grammarians 4-3. Having lost to them 7-1 last time, this was a massive improvement. Every goal was from an early high ball creating an easy two-on-one with the keeper!

Mens 5s beat Atherstone Adders 4s 4-0, in a really intense game of hockey with the potential for many more goals. Atherstone were disappointed to lose and blamed Joe Cliffe for taking a dive in their D.

Ladies 3s drew with Rugby 2-2, a good result as they are second in the table. Everyone put in a shift and a half.

Mens 1s lost 4-1 at home to Hampton. 3-1 down at half time with a spirited response after the break to make the game far more competitive, although Hampton blamed their striker, John Coleman, for not scoring more. Goal from Cam Arnold with a superb shot from the top of  the D to beat a very decent keeper. Man of the match Dan Bentley.

Mens 3s won 6-2 in top of the table clash against Ashby 2s.

There was a good and long-awaited second win for the mens 4s, 6-1 over Tamworth.

And the mens 2s lost 7-1 away at Atherstone who are top of the league, despite being 1-0 up after 15 minutes.
