Christmas Hockey News

Not many Santa hats in view today, but the Ladies 2s came up with an early Christmas present as they beat Coventry & North Warwick 1-0. Excellent build-up play and transferring of the ball led to a good win, with Ruby Curtis-Free scoring the winning goal.

Not to be outdone, Mens 5s won 4-1 away to top of the table Market Harborough, in a very wet but amazing game.

Ladies 1s were disappointed to lose 5-2 to Olton & West Warwick, while Ladies 3s lost 2-0 to Loughborough Town on a very wet pitch.

Mens 2s also lost, 2-1 at home to Warwick, while Mens 6s lost 4-1 against Towcester 2s.

In the much-hyped crunch match v Oundle, Mens 3s drew 2-2. Saints equalised after a deserved last minute short-corner strike, in what was a fiercely contested top of the table game. Special mention to the two fourteen year olds, Harry Fidler and James Barnwell who are performing consistently well in the Threes, and more importantly, enjoying their hockey. Played 10, won 9, drew 1.

Back at Moulton, Mens 7s lost 3-0 to Sikh Union 3s, in what was a very encouraging performance for a developmental side.

Mens 4s lost to Rugby 4s 6-2, in a tough game against second in the league. The opposition started strongly, but Saints managed to get back into the game in the early part of the second half to make it 4-2. The home side though proved too strong in the end, scoring two more goals in quick succession to seal the result.

Finally, Mens 1s faced up to a classy, skilled and relentless Loughborough Students 2s team with a couple of first teamers included. Saints lost 5-1, having been down 4-1 at half time. The team refocussed in the second half and pulled out a top performance to highly frustrate the opposition. Credit goes to Scott Mahoney, Cam Arnold, Nick Whorton and Alex Piper for excellent personal performances.
