Result of the Week goes to Ladies 1s who earned a hugely-deserved 2-0 win against Leek! Sants’ goals were scored by Chloe and Cavey, her first league goal for the squad. The team have been working hard on transfers, possession and a new formation, which really paid off with a clean sheet on Saturday. Saints are playing again on Wednesday at 8pm. The more spectators the merrier, as the team look to build on yesterday’s victory.

Mens 1s visited league leaders Notts Uni 2s.

In a windy and fast affair, the men put up a spirited performance throughout to frustrate the home side attacks. The quality of the home side started to show however, with 2 goals in quick succession. But Saints regrouped strongly to grow in the possession stats and create three good opportunities, which forced reaction saves from the keeper.

The second half was an entertaining 35 mins with an end to end feel. Four goals from Notts was mixed with two fast passing goals from Saints from Scott Mahoney and Jack Berstead [sic]. The fixture finished 6 2.

It may have been a loss on the card, but the M1 welcomed four debuts from Jon Seddon, Jack Bandstand, Lloyd Atkinson and Sam Dale. All contributing to the proud performance against a highly impressive Uni team. Player of the match, Scott Mahoney. The men host Boots next Saturday.

Mens 5s beat Rugby 4-0, with goals from Patrick, Tim, Angus and Julian, in a very “polite” game which puts Saints top of the division.

Mens 7s played away at Coventry and North Warwickshire. The youngsters put in a very mature display to draw 1-1 with the home team.

Mens 6s lost 7-1 to table-topping Towcester Cobras which was a good result against a really tough opposition.

Ladies 4s put in a good performance against Grammarians. Saints came away with a clean sheet against a very strong team and won 1-0. The Ladies dominated position more than the scoreline suggests, making this their 7th win in a row.

Mens 2s were unlucky not to come away with the points on Saturday, playing really well against University of Nottingham 4s, but losing the game 2-1. All goals cam from penalty corners.

In other results, Mens 4s drew 1-1 to Leicester Westleigh, and Ladies 3s also drew, 0-0 to Oundle.

STOP PRESS; A confidant and energetic performance from Saints ladies 5s saw them to a 6-0 win over Towcester 5’s. The team demonstrated their ability to pass the ball around the pitch, patiently waiting for a gap to open up to penetrate the Towcester defence. Josie and Rose grew with confidence as the game progressed; Azaria, Taylor and Eryn excelled in new positions and the defence tackled well. Goals came from Katie (2), Eryn, Ruby , Caroline and ” Player of the match” Taylor
