More Results From Saturday

The mens first team travelled away to promotion chasing Barton on Saturday. With a much restricted number in the squad, the team faced a challenging day in incredibly testing windy conditions, but with the significant boost of a new coach on the side line in former Olympian, Lisa Letchford.

The first half was a topsy-turvy affair with six goals between the two sides; four to the home team and a resistant two from Saints, meaning 4-2 at half time.

The second half was more encouraging for Saints, as the wind was now in their favour. And despite conceding quickly, for the rest of the half, the visitors demonstrated the high levels of resilience that exists within the squad. Saints netted three goals in the second half with Barton counting two.

Even though it was a 6-5 loss, this was a game where anyone watching could see the capability and determination of the visiting side.

A hat-trick for Cam Arnold and a brace from man of the match, Scott Mahoney represented the desire to battle for every point in the league.

The M1s have a rest week coming up with the next league game away to Bournville.

Elsewhere, the Ladies 4s played against Wellingborough 1s on Saturday, who are top of the league. Saints put up a good fight, and had a lot of possession in the opposition 25, but were unable to score. Saints lost the game 4-0, so ending and impressive winning streak.
