This week the ladies 2s played against Atherstone Adders away. Although the opposition was strong we transferred the ball with accuracy, made great leads and worked together to score some amazing team goals. In the first half Grace Moulton scored two goals, one from a penalty corner and in the second half Issy Webb scored. Ella Lewis, the goalkeeper made some incredible saves throughout the game and we were very unlucky to concede two goals from penalty corners. In the end we managed to hold our own, resulting in a 3-2 win! Notable contributions from Charlotte Fordham who managed to make some strong tackles to prevent the opposition’s forward movement and some great running from Hattie Kendrick to make leads for the ball! Votes for man of the match went to Charlotte Fordham, Hattie Kendrick and Katie Fidler but the overall man of the match was Elsa Lee who worked tirelessly to hold her own and fight for the win! Well played everyone!
L1 beat Stourport 2s 1-0.
In what was probably the team’s best performance of the season so far they dominated the early play, with great work in the shape and press causing Stourport loads of issues. Saints were unlucky not to be 2 or 3 goals clear at half time with Ruby causing their defenders issue after issues, Elsie controlling the middle of the pitch with Sophie Sarah and Lilly tireless running kept the pressure up with Dani D and Chloe both coming very close to scoring.
The second half followed in the same vein with both Dani Austin and Issy having opportunities to score and eventually the pressure told following a pca Dani D played the ball across to the back post where Grace N cropped up to score her first league goal for the Ladies 1s.
Stourport flooded forward to try and grab a late equaliser but Maisie, Maddie and Emma “the wall” copper repeatedly held firm.
Mom – Emma “The Wall” Copper
Dod – Sarah “ Bambi on ice” Edmondson

Unfortunate penalty flick awarded to opposition in the last 2 minutes for a foot on the line, followed by another Adders goal from a quick break.
Unfortunate but probably fair result today.
Ladies 5s were well deserved victors over Long Buckby 2s. A 3-0 victory saw goals from Connie, Hester & Bea. The 5s dominated the game in both territory & possession. Lots of the team had to play out of position due to the team having an abundance of forwards. Special mention to Ellie who playing out of position at left back took a blow to the nose (hence the tissue in the photo). Her opponent resorted to elbowing her as she hadn’t got any other way of getting past Ellie. A solid performance from Cecile, Hester & Erin in midfield supported by Eleanor, Bethany & veteran Cavey meant that Long Buckby struggled to get the upper hand. Josie put in a strong, dynamic performance at right midfield. Player of the match went to Connie for a goal on her debut & some great attacking runs. Wally of the week goes to Erin for nearly killing Dell on a short corner strike. Special mention to the umpires Rebecca James & debutant James Milne who did a great job
Ladies 4s were away at Wellingborough against Grammarians. A team with lots of strength in defence and big hits.
However, Taylor Lyon and Hilary Gyde were both able to put balls past the line into both bottom corners meaning we came away with a 2-0 Win.
The Game was played well by all with 7 different people getting votes for man of the match. But with most votes was Taylor Lyon.
Well done to everyone playing.
A day of encouragement and frustration in equal measure for the M2s on their trip to Derbyshire. Top of the table Derby 1s were always going to be a tough ask for a depleted traveling squad of just 12 (an impromptu sub appearance by Trev helped out to give the younger lads a rest!) but a gritty, determined and, indeed, skilled performance meant Saints were on top for large portions of the game. Sadly, the 2s were undone by 2 turnover goals in quick succession in the first half and despite a valiant comeback in the second – aided by some resilient defending at the back – Derby came out 3-1 winners. Saints’ goal came from Alex J and with votes spread across the team from front to back MoM eventually went to Steve.
Saints 7’s made the long journey to West Bridgeford today with a strong 15 players. Two debuts from Jaden and Zac today and both played well, Bridgeford were a maturer side and kept the ball well, Saints young guns demonstrated their skills and technique but experience won the day- 6-0 to WB. Quality teas and hospitality finished the day nicely with games of pool and table football back at Brixworth.
Men’s 6’s 1-7 Tamworth 2’s
A hard game away, where nothing went our way, against a team who were just much stronger than us. Even though we struggled we managed some good build up plays which led to a couple of chances before a nice finish from James Knight.
Saints step up to beat Boots to tie up all 3 points
Stuart Clark scored the only goal that locked in the 3 points for the Men’s 1 against close league rivals Boots. Following two incredibly tough games with table topping Leek and Khalsa, it was time for a mid-table clash that offered the chance to get back to winning ways. The encounter was characterised by a constant midfield battle that went both ways for possession, but Saints ultimately saw most of the ball. Nil all at half time with three very close attempts from Dan Whittaker, Lee Odonnell and Sam Afari.
The second half continued the same but with more PCAs for Saints and clearer chances. The winning goal came from an interception and fast counter attack that saw James Barnwell connect with Whittaker and then Clark who eliminated the Keeper tight to the base line to precisely place the ball in the corner of the backboard. The last 10 mins was seen out in a controlled fashion to help the M1 to wrap up the result.
Congratulations to Player of the Match James Barnwell who showed his talent on debut.
