Le Crunch
M4s crunch match v Atherstone ended in a really hard fought 1-1 draw. And when I say fought, I mean it, with Seb Crick having a fight with the biggest player on their team, then Chris Bryden having a fight with the smallest player on their team! All in all though, a fair game, The Boys done good and held it together with Man of the Match Monty Christoe making some awesome saves to keep us in the game!
L3s
Early meet for L3s away to Long Buckby today. With low availability this week a few 4s stepped up to support us and support us they did. Against 2nd top in the league we knew it may be a tough game but we held our own finishing the first half only 1-0 to Long Buckby. A second goal to Long Buckby early in the second half took us by surprise but we kept our heads up, played really good hockey and were rewarded with a goal! Well done Erin! Little bit of drama in the second half thanks to a bad tackle from Oz, short corner given then upgraded to a Flick. To which GK Bella responded… ‘what do I do’! Bella went on to save the flick beautifully knocking it away with her pads, not bad for her first defensive flick! Both these reasons saw Bella awarded with MOM and DOD! Final score 3-1.
M2s dominated against Derby at home this afternoon but struggled for much of the match to make it show in the score-line. A PC from Scott M gave Saints an early lead but despite consistent pressure at the Derby end – and with little menace on the M2s goal – Saints failed to capitalise. The half-time score remained in the balance at just 1-0. The second half followed much the same pattern with the M2s clearly on top, but with Derby growing into the game the threat of an equaliser was ever-present. Dom calmed the Saints’ nerves with a beautifully struck drive straight and despite some late chances for the visitors the M2s saw out a well deserved, though not as comfortable as it might have been, 2-0 victory.
L4s were home against Grammarians. They had the experience and we had our youth. The 4s fought hard in the first half and despite a few short corners we couldn’t get anything and the opposition hammered the ball in our D getting them 4 goals. The second half we regrouped and came out much stronger, pushing their half more and even scoring. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and we lost 5-1 overall. Despite the score line, everyone had a great game. MOM went to Connie Bates and Kate Dean and DOD went to Hannah.
The ladies ones made the long away trip to Stourport for the Saturday evening game under the lights.
With Karen Hedley and Gracie Horton, making their debuts. Saints started very brightly and showed a lot more energy than in previous weeks with a change of shape working well
Saints put a lot of pressure on Stourport hut were unable to take their opportunities.
0-0 at half-time. Saints continued the great work rate and pressing in the second half, and we were rewarded with a series of PCA , one of which Maddie Ashton deflected to give a one goal lead.
The home team came back into the game pressing really hard in the final, 10 minutes, and Saints are unfortunate to concede.
Not the result that we should have had but a very pleasing performance and a point on the road at Stourport is always nice.::onto next week.
