Juniors
INTRODUCTION:
Northampton Junior Hockey (NJH) is the Junior Section of Northampton Hockey Club, existing for junior players from the age of 3 up to age 16 and young and aspiring umpires and coaches. NJH is a part of Northampton Hockey Club and so has one voting seat on the Committee of the Senior Club, although NJH is accountable for its own separate balance sheet. NJH is run by a Sub Committee of volunteers.
We will play as NJH Lions, fielding teams from age 7 – 13 in appropriate age Mini fixtures, from 13-16 in Vixens and Badgers fixtures. We will also provide introduction to the sport with shorter training sessions (1 hour) for 3 to 7 year olds.

2011/12 Junior Training starts from Tuesday 6th September and Saturday 10th September 2011. Please come along!
AIMS:
· To increase the draw into the game and attract as many children as possible to try out the game and whatever their ability, to “have a go” and have continued playing opportunities.
· To seek out, recruit, promote and develop the very best sports people to the game of hockey to ensure young talent is recognised and nurtured and can “feed” increasing membership of the Northampton Hockey Club, our Senior Section.
It is expected that when players reach age 14 (school year 9) they may move onto Senior Training by invitation and agreement with coaches Training is available at Junior sessions until age 16. While Under 16, juniors will continue to pay membership to the Junior Section regardless of playing team, but will pay match fees associated with the team they are playing in, which vary.Matches will be available for 13-16 year olds with Badgers / Vixens but Senior sides may also invite Junior Members to play. However eligible junior players will always be asked to play for NJH in competition relevant to their age group in preference over clashes with Senior Club League games.
• NJH Actively supports our talented Juniors to reach EHA Development Squads and all EHA Selected Players will be given encouragement to attend EHA fixtures at County, Regional, and National level above NJH fixtures.
• NJH Actively supports Sports Government decision and advise that School teams take precedent over Club competitions.
