Pimps beat Lions in inter-club Summer League Match

Pimp My Side 3-2 Lions

Pimps had a determined start to the match and took most of the play deep into Lions territory. It wasn't long before a great cross from Ian 'Coops' Cooper found youngster Tim Warburton who slipped the ball into the net, catching Lions off guard. Lions played much of their game through the middle and Pimps made the most by moving the ball around and using Laura Wychgel and Annie Holt on the wings. Lions pushed back and secured a couple of penalty corners but were unable to make anything of them thanks to Pimps keeper Ed Holt. Pimps surged again and Tim Warburton slotted home another to make it 2-0 just before half time. In the second half Danny Whitfield made some excellent play through Lions defence and struck a tremendous reverse shot to give Pimps 3. Lions were determined to get onto the scoreboard and after a few attempts scored two in quick succession through Emma Brennan and Joe Colantonio. A highball struck Lion's Athiq Thamby on the finger which resulted in a trip to A&E and Lions becoming more determined. The last five minutes saw Pimps coming under increasing pressure from the Lions as they tried desperately to even out the score, however the final whistle called time and Pimps won 3-2.
