Thunderbirds Are Go!

M4s lined up like Thunderbirds today scoring 15 (FIFTEEN) against Market Harborough today…5 from Tank, 4 from Zac, 3 from Seb, 2 from Cody and 1 from Simon Stringer 😁 Another awesome performance keeps up the pressure on division leaders Atherstone and we have a game in hand. In the words of  Simon Stringer, if we win all our games we’ll win the division…and on the evidence of today’s killer performance, that’s what we’ll do. Keep it up boys, four more games to go! And now, here’s a picture of Simon Chambers.

M5 0-0 Hampton in Arden. After collating the M5 votes:

MoM goes to Harry K for flying down the wing

Dod: joint this week - Dave K for “tackling” a small child but avoiding a card. Seb for a swing and miss and then loosing his rag.

Dichotomy award (as always) goes to Seb - some amazing aerials and then some dire ones

M2s avoided a potential banana-skin away to bottom-of-the-table Leicester Westleigh, coming away with a dominant, if a little frustrating, 7-2 win. A controlled first-half display saw Saints 4-0 up at half-time, including a bullet flick into the bottom corner from Dan B, but it could have been more with some clear openings missed and Westleigh looking to cause trouble on the break. The result was put beyond doubt with 2 early second-half Saints goals but as the M2s took their foot off the pedal mistakes began to creep in. Leicester pulled 2 back after a defensive error and a PC scramble but the 2s had the last say with a beautifully struck reverse from Hamish finishing the scoring in the closing seconds. A solid win takes the M2s third in the table - goals came from Hamish, Dan B, Harry, Scott M, Heath and 2 from MoM Scott H.

M3s welcomed a travelling Beeston 5s team that were looking to do the double over us however the 3s had other ideas!  A passing master class in the first half ensured we dominated play with goals coming from Dave G, Jase H and Angus M. However Beeston upped their game and came out all guns blazing and scored in the first few minutes of the second half and went looking for more. But a solid defensive unit kept them at bay until the final few minutes of the game where they nicked a goal to make it 3-2 at the final whistle.

A strong team performance overall, with notable mentions to Dave G and Wyn S and a Man of the Match performance from Angus M, meant it was a well deserved 3 points for the M3s!

Ladies 4s 3-2 winners v Oundle 2s.
Goals from Tilly, Ruby & Poppy.
The focus of the game was 'give & go' hockey which opened the Oundle defence & midfield on countless occasions. The team played with great energy & intensity for the full 70 minutes, every player contributing to a great TEAM performance.
Player of match Josie.
Wally of week Carisse.

Ashby 2’s Vs Ladies 2’s

Ladies 2’s started the day 5th in the table Vs 7th, the game started with some good interplay from the team and some great forward running from Gracie Horton and Grace Moulton. After several short corners Saints scored but after some dubious umpiring the goal was disallowed. Shortly after we scored a legal goal, curtesy of Elise Ramoo. Ashby came back soon after with a converted short corner to equalise just before half time. Saints had most of the chances  in the second half but failed to capitalise on their chances. Ashby had a short corner in the closing minutes of the game which they converted. Unfortunately despite further chances saints were unable to score and the game finished frustratingly 2-1. Special mention to Taylor Lyon for her 2nd team debut. Ella lewis made some great saves and tireless running from Hattie and Charlotte Fordham from half back. Gracie and Grace worked hard upfront along with Katie Fidler and some good interceptions and forward passing from Rebecca Taylor and Megan Gamble. Mom this week goes to Ella lewis
